Bio

Claire Ihuwan, is the founder and clinical director of Lighthouse Behavioral Consulting. She earned her master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from the University of Cincinnati and has been practicing as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2016. With nearly a decade of experience in the field, Claire is deeply committed to helping individuals with autism lead richer, fuller lives through compassionate, evidence-based care. Throughout her career, Claire’s clinical focus has centered on strengthening both receptive and expressive language skills. She believes that increasing meaningful communication is key to decreasing challenging behaviors and empowering learners to access and fully engage with their natural environments. By building functional communication systems tailored to each individual, she supports clients in developing independence, confidence, and stronger connections with the world around them.

My approach to therapy

At Lighthouse Behavioral Consulting, we take a compassionate, individualized approach to ABA therapy. We recognize that behavior does not occur in isolation; the environment plays a critical role in shaping outcomes. That’s why we thoughtfully tailor each ABA program to your child’s unique strengths, needs, and family priorities rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model. We believe the most meaningful learning happens in the natural environment. While structured teaching has its place, we aim to spend less time at a controlled table and more time building skills through real-life activities, especially in moments that feel challenging. By embedding skill development into everyday routines and experiences, we help children build practical, relevant skills that allow them to thrive at home, in school, and in their communities. Our approach places a strong emphasis on functional communication training and language development. By strengthening communication skills, we work to reduce challenging behaviors while increasing independence, engagement, and access to meaningful experiences. Our trained providers support each child in identifying and developing the form of communication that works best for them, whether through vocal language, sign language, AAC devices, or a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

What to expect

At Lighthouse Behavioral Consulting, families and clients can expect a supportive, collaborative, and highly individualized ABA experience. As a small, BCBA-owned and led organization, we are deeply invested in positive client outcomes and take pride in providing personalized attention to every family we serve. Our team consists of well-trained, compassionate Registered Behavior Technicians and BCBAs who are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. We serve children ages 2–18 in the home and community, ensuring that skills are built where they matter most, in real-life settings. Each treatment plan is thoughtfully tailored to the individual needs of your child and family. We prioritize parent and caregiver training with your child's BCBA, so caregivers feel confident and equipped to support their child’s growth outside of therapy sessions. We also actively collaborate with schools and other therapeutic providers to promote consistency across environments, ensuring that strategies are aligned and progress is maximized across all areas of a child’s life.
